Math Strategy

This week the strategy I have learned is using compensation and place value to solve timetable problems. Here is an example of how to use it.
1 camel eats 29 bales of hay altogether each week. How many bales of hay would 9 camels eat? First what I would do  is  figure out how to solve the problem. So the equation is 9 times 29.
First of all I have to figure out what 9 times 30 is. 9 times 30 is 270 now I have to figure out what 9 times 29 is. You have to take away 9 from 270 which is  261.
